About the excursion

A two-hour quad-bike ride where you will be able to see two scenic lakes. These lakes have chosen the Zvirgzdes forest as their home. One of them is the old Staņķu mill-pond covered in water-lilies, and the other is the mysterious Blind Lake. The path to these lakes leads through various interesting forest roads, including the old German railway line, and other routes of historical significance. At the end of the tour you’ll have the opportunity to visit the “Dzintarlāse” beehive, where you can see how life runs in a bee-apiary, look at beehives, and how mead and strong honey-based spirits are made. At the host’s apiary you’ll also have the chance to buy locally produced honey and other “Dzintarlāse” treats you won’t find in retail chains.

“Expedition”

About the excursion

This expedition is a route chosen by you, mostly along gravel and lesser-used forest roads. You select area where you want the expedition to take place. We’ll agree on the route options together and set off! There is a possibility to plan the expedition for one, two or even three days, depending on the region and route length. Expedition prices are individually arranged with each client and depend on journey’s duration and the selected region.

“Zvirgzdes Forest Adventure” (2 hrs)

About the excursion

A two-hour quad-bike excursion during which you will see the remarkable variety of forest scenery—from beautiful pine and spruce forest to overgrown thickets. Along small forest tracks accessible only by quad‐bike, we’ll drive to Zvirgzdes forest’s most mysterious spot: the “Blind” Lake. Here, after a hand-break respite, you’ll have a chance to view this unusual forest lake. At the end of the tour you’ll visit the “Dzintarlāse” bee-apiary where you can inspect the beehives and observe how mead and strong honey-based spirits are made.

“Journey to Zvirgzdes Dune” (2.5 hrs)

About the excursion

This 2.5-hour quad-bike tour takes you to Latvia’s highest inland dune located in Zvirgzdes forest — the Zvirgzdes dune. From the dune’s summit, with a relative height of about 30 m, you will enjoy a breathtaking view across the tops of pine forest, for tens of kilometres. The path to this dune goes through various forest trails, past overgrown old paths used during the First Republic of Latvia and WW II. At the end of the tour you’ll visit the “Dzintarlāse” bee-apiary, where you can inspect the beehives and see how mead and strong honey-based spirits are made. On-site purchases of honey and other treats not found in retail stores are available from the host’s apiary.
